John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado that specialized in folk-pop music has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most popular musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. To many, Denver is the Colorado image. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other part of the globe, one from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after he performed with smaller folk groups. The song was written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it would be a big success. Following the performance in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days afterward.
